Frederic Godby (25 October 1819 - 2 January 1856) was a Scottish painter.[1][2] He worked at Edinburgh's General Post Office as chief clerk.

Life[edit]

His father was John Hardy Godby (c. 1781 - 26 February 1856).

His mother was Mary Ann Bell.

Frederic John Hardy Godby was born on 25 October 1819.

He married Mary Binnie (22 Janaury 1826 - 23 June 1886) from Corstorphine, Edinburgh; on 10 October 1848 in Edinburgh.

He died on 2 January 1856 at Spylaw Bank, Colinton, Edinburgh.[3]

He is buried in Dean cemetery in Edinburgh.
