Thomas Reynolds Lamont (3 January 1827 - 14 April 1898) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life[edit]

His father was Colin Lamont (born c. 1791), a banker from Greenock.

His mother was Clarissa Reynolds (born c. 1797), from England.

Their first son Colin Daniel Lamont (24 August 1824 - 3 August 1887) was born in Greenock and died at Ullock farm near Keswick.

Thomas Reynolds Lamont was born in Greenock on 3 January 1827 in Greenock. He was baptised on 10 February 1827.

He was married three times. The first marriage was to Mary Elizabeth Ranken (c. 1836 - 1871) from Brislington in Somerset, England. She was the daughter of Rev. Charles Ranken, lecturer of Brislington. They married on 29 September 1866 at Brislington.[3] The second marriage was to Elizabeth Were (1842 - 1881) in Clifton in Gloucestershire, England. She was the only daughter of Thomas Bonville Were. They married on 18 October 1877 in Barrow Gurney in Somerset.[4] The third marriage was to Lucy Margaret Smart (1858 - 31 August 1953) from Hackney in London. They married on April 1890 in Canterbury, Kent, England.

He had no children from any marriage. Instead he was made a godfather of his relations:- Arthur Denniston, Sylvia Maurier, Christopher Moore, Olivia Edith Smart and Claude Augustin Smart. He left £50 for each one at his death.[5]

He died on 14 April 1898 at his home at 19 North Bank, Marylebone, London.[6][7] His estate was valued at £8456, 7 shillings and 5 pence.[8]
