George Linen (29 April 1802 - 27 September 1888) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was John Linnen (born 3 February 1754) from Greenlaw in Berwickshire.

His mother was Isabel Dickson (born c. 1763). John and Isabel married on 1 August 1783, after banns were issued on 5 July 1783.

George Linen was born in Greenlaw on 29 April 1802.[3]

He married Sarah Cartwright Davis (25 December 1811 - 12 June 1891) from Shropshire, England. They married on 1 April 1833 in Manchester, England.

The couple moved to the United States in 1834.

He died in Pequannock, Morris, New Jersey, United States, on 27 September 1888. He was buried in Newark, New Jersey.
