John Kirk (24 February 1922 - 10 April 2016) was a Scotland international rugby union player.[1]

Rugby Union career[edit]

Amateur career[edit]

During the Second World War he represented the combined team Edinburgh Acadmicals Wanderers.

He also played rugby for the Army.

Provincial career[edit]

He played for Edinburgh District in December 1945 inter-city match against Glasgow.[2]

International career[edit]

Kirk played in the 19 January 1946 Services International match against New Zealand Army for Scotland. As a Services international, McNeil was finally given a retrospective cap in 2023.[3]

Family[edit]

His father was the Dr. Henry Bruce Kirk. His mother was Catherine Logan. John Kirk married twice, his first wife Mary died in an accident in 1988, his second wife Anne married him in 1998.[4]
