I speak fluent English (with a British accent) and Pashto as well, a language of the Pashtuns in Afghanistan, although I am Pashayi.

Specialising in the military history of Afghanistan

• Six uncles who were in KHAD and the military intelligence service during the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan

• Father, conscript in the Afghan Army during the Democratic Republic

• Grandfather, Colonel Mohammed Akim, served in the Afghan Army from the Kingdom of Afghanistan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, now passed. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
