Allen Garvin was born April 9, 1969, in Fort Worth, TX. He grew up in Sulphur Springs, TX. He initially went to college at the University of Texas in 1987, where he got his first exposure to UNIX on Sun 3's. In 1990, he transferred to East Texas State University, where he later graduated with degrees in Math and History. While there, he worked with HP-UX, IRIX, OSF/1, AIX, and Linux. He has administered UNIX systems since 1993. Other interests besides UNIX include numismatics, fiddle music, early keyboard music, good beer, and kitties.
