Dr. Saranjit Singh[edit]

Saranjit Singh, M. Pharm, PhD (born 8 October 1956)1 is an Indian scientist. As of 2009, he is a professor and Dean of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, India and Leader of Stability Testing and Impurity Profiling Facility, NIPER.1

Education and career:[edit]

Singh joined Punjab University as a research assistant and was promoted to the position of a lecturer. While serving as a lecturer, Singh completed his PhD in 1987.3

Singh is an international expert in the areas of drug stability testing, expiry dating and impurity profiling of pharmaceuticals. He is a member of the expert advisory panel on the International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations, World Health Organization, Geneva.


Research:[edit]

His research interests include dug stability testing, forced decomposition studies, development of validated analytical methods, including stability-indicating assays, Pre-formulation studies, Impurity profiling.2 He has successfully completed some projects in impurity profiling and standards, which are supplied to countries like the US, Japan and UK.


Legacy[edit]

Singh inculcates scene of hard work and sincerity in his students, his students spread across globe and hold key positions in pharma industry and academia and are working in different research areas including pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry , biotechnology and drug regulatory affairs. As an adviser to the Indian pharma industry Singh feels strong need for industry and academia liaison.
