As a researcher, he has studied learning objects, e-learning systems, personalisation of e-learning systems, adaptable and/or adaptive and/or personalised e-learning systems.

By completing his study in 2011, he presented another approach on methods of transferring knowledge from a source to another source - which is usually related to learner's cognitive thinking.

There are studies relating different learning styles and psychological approaches to a learning management system (LMS). This type of system studies learners' learning styles and provides them with related and specialised learning materials, so to be in the most compatible format to their learning habit.

In the recent year, Alan Mustafa has moved his interest towards working on data computational field and has published numerous research papers.
