Patrick Flynn[edit]

Patrick Flynn is a member of the Assembly in Anchorage, Alaska and was first elected in April, 2008.

Personal[edit]

Patrick Flynn was born in Anchorage and is the son of Charles and Heather Flynn, both originally from Oregon. He grew up in Anchorage, attending West Anchorage High School, and went on to Claremont McKenna College earning an undergraduate degree in government.

Flynn has worked for the Alaska Railroad Corporation since 2001 and earned a Masters of Business Administration from Alaska Pacific University in 2002. He is part-owner of a popular downtown Anchorage restaurant, the Snow City Cafe, and volunteers with the United Way of Anchorage. He and his wife, Tina, have two sons.

Political[edit]

After college Flynn returned to Alaska worked on the campaign of a candidate for the Alaska State Legislature before taking a job in the administration of Governor Tony Knowles. He later served as a White House intern and Chief of Staff for former Alaska State Representative Ethan Berkowitz.

With the incumbent downtown Anchorage Assembly member, Allen Tesche, unable to run for re-election due to term limits, Flynn announced his candidacy for the open seat in the fall of 2007. His campaign was endorsed by the Anchorage Daily News and "engineered a landslide"[1] victory.

As a member of the Assembly Flynn has chaired the Ethics & Elections committee, co-chaired of the Legislative committee, served on the Budget & Finance committee, chaired the Port committee, served on the Enterprise Oversight committee, and served as a member of Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions Policy Committee (Anchorage's Metropolitan Planning Organization).
