M is the debut fragrance of singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was developed by perfumers Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong and released through Elizabeth Arden. The fragrance is described as sweet and floral.[1] Its components are Tahitian tiare flowers, gardenia petals, amber incense and marshmallows. According to the official site, marshmallows evoke Carey's favorite childhood memories, the flowers represent Hawaii and Capri (her favorite holiday destinations), while amber incense represents her sensuality.[2]

The fragrance is packaged in a sleek purple bottle, which includes a butterfly, Carey's signature. It is available in 15 ml Parfum, or 30, 50 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum. A matching Body Lotion is also sold.

In October 2007, Carey promoted the fragrance on press tour, including visits to The View, The Today Show, 106 and Park, and TRL. On October 23, 2007, Carey shut down Macy's Herald's Square in New York City in the perfume's official launch.
