Brij Raj Oberoi also known as Diamond Oberoi is the Founder and Managing Director of Elgin Hotels & Resorts, a chain of heritage hotels in the Himalayas in Northern West Bengal and Sikkim.[1]

Early Life and Education[edit]

B. R. Oberoi completed his graduation in 1976 from St Joseph’s College, Darjeeling in Economics (Hons). Later he was trained at the Oberoi School of Hotel Management in Delhi. At the age of 20 he started working with his father Kuldip Oberoi, who set up the first Elgin hotel in Darjeeling. Inspired by his Late uncle M.S. Oberoi who was the founding Chairman of the Oberoi Group of Hotels, Diamond Oberoi then initiated the development of his own brand Elgin Hotels and Resort.[2]

Personal Life and Family[edit]

Born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on Novemeber 13, 1952. He is the youngest of six siblings. His father worked at The Cecil hotel that was run by M.S. Oberoi. His mother and Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi's mother were sisters. M. S. Oberoi was the one to give Brij Raj his nickname, Diamond.

Brij Raj Oberoi is married to Nimmi Oberoi, who is the director at Elgin Hotels.[3]
