Born and bred in Kenya, Dickens Luvanda who is passionate about Kiswahili, is a multi-skilled Kenyan journalist; a news reporter, anchor and editor.

While in secondary school, Dickens made history as the youngest student while in Form One and Two, this making him to complete his secondary education at a tender age.

After his tertiary education, he interned with Hope FM radio station in Nairobi as a reporter and Kiswahili news anchor in late 2013, before working as a news writer and correspondent in Mombasa.

In November 2016 - March 2019, he worked for Hivisasa.com as a sub-editor and writer after working with the same digital media company as an exemplary freelance writer.

In November 2019, Dickens joined Hope Media company as a news reporter and Kiswahili news anchor on Hope FM and Hope TV and later as the news sub-editor and acting editor.

Awards and Recognition

While in high school between 2007 - 2010, Dickens was awarded for serving as the school timekeeper, environment prefect and being the best actor student in drama festivals.

In November 2023, Dickens Luvanda was nominated for the annual prestigious Utumishi Bora Awards (UBA 2023) by the Kenya Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) under the Media Champion category <ref name="undefined" /> due to his outstanding work and efforts in positively impacting the society through the media.

Dickens who started writing drama plays while in high school where he also served as the school drama club chairman and music club treasurer, is in the process of writing a Kiswahili novel with an aim of impacting the society and lovers of literature.

In his TV and Radio career, he has interviewed several newsmakers and guests who include Kenya's 2022 general elections presidential candidate David Waihiga Mwaura, 2022 presidential aspirant and gospel singer and song writer Reuben Kigame, Muthiora Kariara and Esther Waringa.

Besides interviewing Tanzanian gospel singer and writer Dr. Peter Ipyana, Dr. David Oginde shortly before he assumed office as the EACC chairman and the chairperson of Kenya's Anti-FGM Board Ipato Surum, Dickens Luvanda has also interviewed several other newsmakers in matters governance and administration, politics, environment and climate change, education, sex education, gender-based violence, domestic work, journalists and media, art, social justice, security, human resources, self employment, health among other topics and has also made live commentaries on hot-topic issues affecting the society.
