My name is Daniel Allington. I am Lecturer in Digital Media at the University of Leicester (previously Associate Professor of Digital Cultures at UWE Bristol and Lecturer in Applied Linguistics at the Open University). Much of my more recently published research uses quantitative and mixed methods, especially social network analysis, though my earlier published work was strictly qualitative, and I still work as a historian (with a historical study of British publishing coming out next year). I gained my PhD in English Studies from the University of Stirling and my MA in Linguistics from the University of Nottingham. Prior to that, I worked as an English teacher for several years, and I have also worked in the publishing industry. More detail about me is available from my personal website.
