URAS AGEE IV: Navigating life beyond the field

Uras Agee IV, commonly known as "LT," comes from an extended lineage of NFL veterans, including his father, Uras Agee III, his cousin Vonn Bell, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, and his uncle Tommie Agee, who played for the Cowboys in the past.

Agee began playing football at age five back home in Chattanooga, TN, where the sport was instilled in his mind from an early age. In later years, he branched out into playing different sports ranging from swimming, baseball, basketball, and track but ultimately narrowed his focus on football.

"I haven't always necessarily been the best football player, but I've always been the best athlete," Agee said. "Things I maybe couldn't do directly as a football player, I always was able to make up for it with athleticism, so I think that brought a different dynamic with my personality to the game of football."

Agee carried on his athletic abilities to Coastal Carolina, where he transferred to the University of Georgia. Between his time at both D1 schools, he spent some time doing a stint at Shorter University.

However, playing football wasn't something that he had always enjoyed. He honored the respect of the game for his father as he knew it would make him happy, but in high school, he enjoyed other sports more, Agee said.

"Elementary, middle, and high school, I genuinely played [the game] to make my dad happy," Agee said. "I knew it brought happiness to him as a fourth generation to watch me play the game he loves so much and for it to make my family happy."

He didn't truly fall in love with the game until college, Agee said. As a natural-born competitor, it wasn't the game that necessarily drew him in, but his ability to outshine the person next to him or run faster when competing at a high level.

With his fierce competitive mindset, Agee faced an incredible amount of adversity, starting in early high school with a bad knee injury that led to OCD lesion tears, turning into a bone deficiency disease.

"During college, I had a couple of knee surgeries that set me back," Agee said. "That was a tough time leaning into resilience and being able to overcome many things."

After finishing his collegiate career, Agee declared for the NFL Draft and participated in the combine virtually due to Covid where players had to use their own training facilities for the draft and pro day preparation. Agee participated in his official pro day at UGA. He ended up signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, where he became a Super Bowl LV Champion in February 2021.

Now, he is part of the Dallas Cowboys team as a safety/return specialist and has spent most of his off-season between three training sessions a day. However, in light of his NFL career, he considers himself an entrepreneur off the field and prioritizes giving back while embarking his name into the business and real estate industry, Agee said.

"Camp Agee is a foundation where I have been able to talk to local high school programs," Agee said. "You always hear of athletes that come from tough neighborhoods, backgrounds or single-parent households, but you never have an athlete that comes from a good home and did everything right, who struggled later in life that they had to overcome."

Camp Agee organization conducts youth camps and donates to local high school football programs. LT has worked hard to express his perspective as a "privileged" kid to others and enlighten them on the hardships he has experienced in his life. This affords people the ability to understand his narrative on a deeper level, with an emphasis that everyone deals with internal struggles.

He had moments where he fell into the wrong crowd but, through character development, found the right people who support and help him become a better version of himself, Agee said.

In addition to his professional NFL career, he has used his success on the field to invest in businesses he wholeheartedly believes which has become a big emphasis in his life aside from his NFL career. His competitive spirit on the field has translated to his passion for business development.

He invested in a medspa called True Esthetics, which has locations in Los Angeles and Denver. They are coming up with Miami, Nashville, and Chicago while branching out to more locations. He also invested in an LA Fitness, located in Tampa, Florida.

"My investments are catered to making people feel better about themselves," Agee said. "I've enjoyed investing and becoming an owner of companies that promote self-confidence. I love being able to see people with a smile on their faces."

When he started to make more money from his NFL career, his dad was the one who pushed him to invest in different companies early on, Agee said. His father wanted him to learn from his mistakes back when he was in the league.

"I have a great support system in Tampa and Miami," Agee said. "The people around me have helped me become business-oriented in that side of my life. My niche is building and creating teams from the ground up."

Agee continues to pursue his ambitious desires, taking on more projects while maintaining training for his NFL career. Through everything he curates, he remains humble in his individuality while being a passionate entrepreneur.
