Amar Bikrampur (Bengali: আমার বিক্রমপুর) is a Bengali-language online newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Munshiganj.
According to the overview of Facebook, on an average, 1 million people from home and abroad see Amar Bikrampur posts on Facebook every month.[1]
History
[edit]Amar Bikrampur was established on 11 August 2015. Bikrampur is a traditional area of Bangladesh. Beyond this area, the media tries to highlight the art-education-entertainment, tradition, culture and contemporary issues of different places of Bangladesh. They regularly create videos, photos, graphics, information resources, blog content etc. Their content is professional and high-quality. And creating such content is their sole purpose. It will mark ten years in 2024. Truth, Integrity, Courage, Solidarity, Compassion – Amar Bikrampur values these 5 things in journalism. From 2016 to 2019, six special print editions of the magazine were also published. On March 25, 2022, under the supervision of journalist Shihab Ahmed, a regular print edition called Dainik Amar Bikrampur was published, but it is currently temporarily closed.
Till August 2024, 303K people are following this portal through Facebook. This is the biggest FB Fan page from Munshiganj District.
Editors
[edit]Since its founding in 11 August 2015,[update] Shihab Ahmed is the chief editor of the newspaper. He received 'Media Award 2018' [2] and `2020' [3] by non-governmental organization Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP) for reporting on overseas employment issues and crises. He is Certified by Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) based on participation in 'Development Journalism Workshop for Youth'. [3] Amar Bikrampur editor and publisher is Shihab Ahmed. Who is widely respected for honesty and integrity. In 2019, a case was filed against him under the Digital Security Act for publishing a news titled 'Who are the masterminds of drug trade in Munshiganj?' (now known as the Cyber Security Act). After suffering for 4 years in that case, the Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka released him from the case in 2023.[4]
A total of 45 people in 15 categories including the organizers of the liberation war of the district, educationists, people who have made a unique contribution to medical services (during corona pandemic, social reformers, talented students, sports personalities and organizations, special role in social service, public safety and culture in 2020. Gunijan was awarded the prestigious award.
