Organizations founded/run by the Irish businessman Declan Ganley have engendered comment[1][2][3][4][5][6] concerning their commonality of personnel and location. A list of Declan Ganley organizations is given below.

Adornis.com

Adornis.com was an online jewelry retailer[7] launched in 1999,[8] part of the dot-com boom[8] of the 90's. The company was funded thru Ganley's private equity firm, the Ganley Group,[9] with $30m in equity funding, $30m in debt financing and a personal investment by Ganley of $5.5m.[10] The French holding company Compagnie Financiere Richemont[9][10] (or Richmount[7]) owned 20%[7] and the Irish internet firm Nua Internet Services[10] owned 10%.[7] Ganley owned around 40%,[9] with the remainder owned by three American hedge funds.[9] It was valued at $25 million at one point[7] but collapsed and its stock was sold off to Overstock.com[7] for about $2m.[7] The remains were converted to Adornis.com Limited,[11] founded on 7 September 2001.[11] That company's latest annual return was filed on 31 December 2005.[11]

Anglo Adriatic Investment Fund

The Anglo Adriatic Investment Fund (AAIF) was established by Ganley International,[15] with a 10%[15] stake taken by the US-based Rothschild Emerging Markets Fund.[15] AAIF was the first[15] foreign-managed investment fund in Albania, provisionally licensed on 13 April 1996[15] and definitively licensed on 22 May 1996.[16] AAIF collected privatisation vouchers[6][15] that the government of post-communist Albania was giving to Albanians, and it used the nominal value of those vouchers for investment in areas such as fertilizer,[15] breweries,[17] cement[17] and pharmaceuticals.[17] The Albanians who deposited their vouchers with AAIF recieved shares in the fund in return.[6] At one point the fund had 450,000 shareholders and vouchers with a nominal value of more than $120 million.[6]

But AAIF had collected too many vouchers: it had 12%[16] of all the vouchers and privatisation leks combined, more that the 10% maximum[16] prescribed by law.[nb 1] Following a lengthly period of negotiation and accusation between AAIF and the Albanian government,[16] AAIF was left unable to continue with the privatisation.[16] Even worse, the market value of the vouchers had dropped from 25.6%[16] of their nominal value in January 1996[16] to 1.7%[16] in October 1998.[16] AAIF was bankrupted.[16]

Der Speigel stated[18] that AAIF's UK office (128 Mount Street, London, W1Y 5HA[19]) shared an address with the European branch of US investment fund Paladin Capital, and also stated[18] that Paladin Capital's advisory board was chaired by former CIA director James Woolsey. Ganley denies any involvement with the CIA.[20]
