Plot[edit]

Kathleen and Agnes are worried about Dermott's behaviour when he is distracted during his church service. Agnes tells Kathleen that they should return to Spain for the sake of Tommy and her other two sons, as Dermott is an adult and can visit her, but Kathleen says Dermott needs her, though Agnes blames Kathleen for Dermott's behaviour.

Eileen wants the turn the old house, Cois Dara, into a cookery school. Dermott discovers the plans and is upset at not being told.

Eileen is insisting on staying in Redwater, but Kieran is not sure about it because of his life in the United States. Roisín soon realises that Eileen likes Peter.

Dermott learns that Bernie is looking into something about Lance on Adeen's phone, so he steals a dog from outside the pub and goes to the Garda, calling them to report a fire, so Bernie is left on her own. Dermott then reports the dog as a stray to gain access to the station, and when he is there, Bernie goes into labour. Dermott lies to her that he has called an ambulance and tried to call Andrew, when instead he has found the email Bernie was waiting for showing evidence that someone else was on the beach when Lance died; Dermott deletes the email, and there is talk about a time when Bernie confessed to Dermott about relationship troubles between her and Andrew. Dermott delivers Bernie's son but calls an ambulance when she starts bleeding and passes out.

Dermott then visits Kathleen but Alfie is there and he sees blood on Dermott's jumper, and Dermott sees flights to Spain on Alfie's computer, and accuses Alfie of being jealous of him, but Alfie says Agnes was right when she says they need to focus on Tommy. Dermott lets the dog out and when Alfie sees it through the upstairs window, he worries it is a hallucination. Dermott visits Agnes and asks why she is denying him of a mother, and Agnes says that becoming a priest was his calling, but he says he was not given a choice as he was ripped from his mother, but Agnes says he was lifted from chaos and given to his proper mother.

Kieran tells Andrew he is having nightmares about the Redwater Tragedy, but instead of Mouse dying, he saves her. Andrew arrives by Bernie's side and accepts that Dermott tried to call him. Later, they return home, and Dermott, Andrew and Kieran go out drinking in the woods. When Kieran says that Eileen wants the Cois Dara project to be family only, excluding Dermott, Dermott takes Kieran and Andrew to a lake in the woods with a rope swing and gets Kieran to swing, though he is scared. Kieran ends up falling in the water and has another flashback to the Tragedy and remembers Dermott refusing to save Iris's life. Dermott then rescues Kieran from the lake.

Eileen texts Peter to see if he is still up. He goes to Cois Dara but meets Roisín there, and it is revealed that they had an affair 20 years ago, and she says they can run away together, but he says he has changed and leaves.

Back home, Keiran tells Andrew what he remembered about Dermott, and that if he had tried to call Andrew, there would have been a missed call registered on his phone, but there was none; Dermott listens in on their conversation. Andrew dismisses Kieran's claims and asks him to stay in Redwater,

Dermott leaves the house at dawn and goes to Cois Dara. Padraig wakes and finds Roisín sleeping downstairs. Padraig goes outside for a cigarette and sees smoke from a fire; Dermott is standing next to Cois Dara, which is burning.
