HISTORY OF CHAMUNDA TEMPLE IN PUSHKAR[edit]

There are 52 Shakti Peeth (Power Places) in India where the various body parts of the mother Goddess fell thereby energizing the Place.

The Place is the 27th power place where the wrists of the goddess fell.The wrists have the significance that we do all the action from the hands via wrists.There are beautiful erotic idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in an embrace inside the temple which are shown to public only on the special occasion.There is a Goddess Kali idol on the extreme left and Goddess Gauri , Lord Ganesh on the Extreme right.The status are extremely old dating back to Treta Yug. There are special prayers held every morning and evening to charge the place. The place is hidden among Pushkars hills.It is located at Gayatri hills near Pushkar and 11 km north-west of Ajmer, Rajasthan(Nala,Badi Basti,Pushkar-5022cDist.Ajme4(Raj.)) and around 5-7 km from the famous Pushkar Bramha temple.

This place owning its erotic sculpture of Shiva Parvati in an embrace is also named as Priya Peeth,the place for the lover and couples to be blessed by pure love and divine love.There is another sculpture here where two goddesses Saraswati and Laxmi are seated on Nandi (The bull). The goddess Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and Creativity whereas goddess laxmi is the goddess of richness and luxury .The idols of two goddess together in a side embrace is a rare sight indeed.

This is referred to as the CHAMUNDA TEMPLE in Pushkar. Every Month on Shukla Asthami special prayers and pujas are organized. One can request the preist for darshan of the idols and prayers ceremony on visiting the temple.This place remains solitary and Unknown to many.But it is the Place to experience the Divine Power and the Inner Peace.
