Disability Resource Center (DRC)[edit]

The Disability Resource Centre provides help with accommodations to help all students succeed in all aspects of their university life. They are dedicated to help disabled students have an inclusive experience around the university. They also provide support to many students during exam seasons.[1] They are located on the second floor of the UNC building, in room 215, and they are open on Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.[2]

The DRC provides support for students who have been medically diagnosed of:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, or bipolar disorder.
  • Neurological disabilities such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, learning disabilities, head injuries, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Chronic health conditions, including ongoing medical conditions such as arthritis, chronic pain, Crohn’s disease, or migraines.
  • Physical or sensory disabilities such as visual impairment, hearing loss, or mobility impairment.

They will also provide support for more specific cases.[3]

“The DRC is the department designated to assist UBC in integrating Students with Disabilities into all aspects of university life and is responsible for assisting students and their instructors with accommodation on the Okanagan Campus.”[4]

Student Health Clinic and Mental Health and Wellness Services

The Student Health Clinic is committed to provide treatments, consultations, health information and referrals for physical, emotional, sexual/reproductive health, designed to help students succeed in their university life. The Student Health Clinic also provides students with a family doctor for the duration of their studies.[5]

The Student Health Clinic is open year-round, on Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm in the UNC Building, in room 337.

The Student Wellness Centre is also a part of the Student Health Clinic, and they provide support and counselling for all students. They provide resources for, but not limited to: Counselling and mental health Health insurance Sexual Violence Prevention and Response (SVPRO) They also provide more resources for more specific cases.[6]

Global Engagement Office (GEO)[edit]

UBC Okanagan's Global Engagement Office (GEO) is dedicated to cultivating a campus environment that values inclusivity and global perspectives. The office collaborates with university partners to integrate international experiences both on campus and abroad, emphasizing open-mindedness and cultural sensitivity.

GEO offers a diverse array of programs, including International Student Advising, Go Global: International Learning Programs, and Intercultural Programming. These services focus on areas such as support for international students, fostering intercultural understanding, language exchange initiatives, ensuring student safety overseas, managing research mobility, facilitating [exchange] partnerships, and coordinating overseas programs led by faculty.

Core Programs
Intercultural Development Program (IDP): This program offers a combination of workshops, social activities, and volunteer opportunities, led by experienced coordinators, to enhance [communication] skills. Participants receive a certificate upon completion, adding value to their professional profiles.

International Student Advising: This service supports international students at UBC, staffed by accredited Canadian Immigration Consultants and International Student Immigration Advisors.

Go Global: An educational exchange program that enables students to study at partner universities worldwide, with credits contributing to their UBC degrees. Short-term global learning options are also available.

Visiting International Research Students (VIRS): This category encompasses international students conducting full-time research at UBC, enrolled at their own universities or in UBC-endorsed bridging programs. Although regarded as full-time for immigration purposes, VIRS participants cannot take or audit academic courses.[7]

Academic and Career Advising[edit]

Academic and Career Advising can help students regarding many things related to academic purpose. Their office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm PST. They can help you with:

  • Course planning and degree requirements
  • Checking graduation requirements
  • Understanding academic concession
  • Confirming transfer credits

Academic advising have 2 types of supports[8]:

  • 15-minute express drop-in advising

2. Pre-scheduled appointments

  • 30-minute pre-scheduled appointments

Career advising have 3 types of supports[9]:

  • Career peer mentors (to review your resume)

Multifaith Room[edit]

Situated in the University Centre (UNC 316), the Spiritual & Multi-Faith Space is designed for the diverse spiritual practices of the UBC Okanagan community. Open weekdays from 8:30 am to 9 pm, it offers a non-denominational setting for various spiritual activities like prayer, meditation, religious studies, and mentorship discussions.[10]

Koi Sushi[edit]

  • Japanese/Korean restaurant on campus.
  • Koi sushi offers boba drinks, bibimbap, rolls, and nigiri.

  • Indian restaurant on campus

J’s cafe[edit]

  • J’s cafe opened in September, 2023, it is an authentic Korean restaurant that offers bento boxes, and other Korean street food.
  • One of the first restaurants that opened by students’ vote in 2022/2023

SUO Student Services[edit]

Paper Supply Co.[edit]

This campus-based stationery and consignment bookstore specializes in used textbooks. It operates a buy-back system, allowing students to earn from textbook sales. The store also offers consignment services under specific terms.

Pantry (SUO Food Bank)[edit]

Launched in October 2019, Pantry serves as a short-term solution to student food emergencies, while advocating for more sustainable, long-term food security solutions within the wider institution and national context.

$5 Smart Meals[edit]

This affordable meal program, spearheaded by VP External Lakshay Karnwal, provides $5 meals at select UNC Building eateries. The program is grounded in three principles: enhancing food security, supporting mental health, and promoting sustainability.[11][12][13]

RBC On-Campus[edit]

RBC is located on the first floor of the UNC building near the main entrance of the building, specifically between Koi Sushi and Fusion Express. They have one representative on-campus through weekdays during Fall and Winter term. There is also the RBC ATM machine that makes it easier to withdraw cash. RBC on-campus offer you services[14], such as:

  • Opening chequing and savings accounts
  • Opening credit cards/student loans
  • Opening investment and investings
  • Online banking support
  • Mobile app support including rewards app and wallet app, etc.


UNC Ballroom[edit]

UNC also has a multipurpose ballroom that can be used for any conference, events, or reception. It is located on the second floor of the UNC building. There are several facilities provided by the ballroom[15], for instance:

  • Table carts
  • Engraved podium
  • Stage
  • Ceiling-mounted projector
  • Projector screen
  • Built-in sound system
  • Baby grand piano
  • Wireless microphone


Spaces[edit]

The UNC building provides all students with access to Collegium spaces for students to take a break, relax, socialize, and make new connections with students. They provide a kitchen and some small appliances, comfortable spaces and sofas, a fireplace, a big-screen TV, and some board games.[16]

The UNC provides students with two Collegia spaces, one located in room 336 (for First and Second year students) and a second one in room 335 (for Upper level students). UBC Okanagan also has a Global Collegium located in the EME building. They are open on Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 6 pm, and on Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.[17]

The UNC also offers Indigenous students their own space, aimed to provide a sense of belonging and community for indigenous students. They are located in room 210.[18]
