Rajendra K Sinha[edit]

Dr Rajendra Kumar Sinha (born 1957) is the Professor & Chairperson, Centre of Excellence in Banking at Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSOM), formerly known as IFIM Business School,[1] the 6th AACSB Accredited Business School of India and the 1st Business School from India to break into Global QS Masters in Marketing and Finance Rankings 2021.

Early Life[edit]

Dr Sinha was born in Delhi and had his childhood & schooling there. He graduated from Hans Raj College of Delhi University. He completed his post-graduation, as an ICAR Junior Research Fellow. His father was in Government service in Delhi. The family has their native place in Bihar. He got married to Sangita (1983), who came from a respectable landlord family near Raxaul town in the East Champaran of Bihar state, India.

Corporate & Academic Career[edit]

Before coming in the Academic & Research world, Dr Sinha was a top executive in the India’s leading bank, the State Bank of India. He was SME-Business Head of SBI’ Mumbai Circle and Head-Industry Studies at SBI’ Corporate Office, Mumbai. Earlier, he was recognized as the Best Regional Head (Chairman Club Awardee) for the outstanding performances as Regional Business Head at Gandhinagar district in Gujarat state. Prior to this, he had excelled in 6 Branch Managerial assignments (across Metro, Urban, Semi-Urban, & Rural Centers). Dr Rajendra K Sinha also had a stint at State Bank Academy and was the Founder Member-Secretary of Advisory Council on Training & Research in SBI in the year 2000. He was also the Founder Editor of “Gurukul” magazine of State Bank Academy. His interest in Academics & Research got a boost here. He completed his Ph.D. (Business Administration) from Aligarh Muslim University. In 2017, he joined Jagdish Sheth School of Management as Professor & Chairperson, Centre of Excellence in Banking. He has been successfully executing Career Track in Banking for the PGDM students, in association with Indian Institute of Banking & Finance.

Writing & Activities[edit]

Dr Sinha has been recipient of “CH Bhabha Research Scholarship & Award” on “Cost of Bank services” (1998), from Indian Banks Association (IBA); authored a Book in Hindi in 2009 on “Risk Management & Importance of Derivatives”, approved by the Committee at College of Agriculture Banking of Reserve Bank of India and published by Shilpayan publisher; recipient of IBA 21st century Finance Minister Book Writing Award (2000) for the Book in Hindi on “Risk Management & Derivatives”. He has published over 60+ Papers / Articles in reputed Journals/ Magazines.

Dr Sinha is recognized as a domain expert on MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in India. He conceptualized & successfully executed “MSME Financing” course at JAGSOM, 1st time by a B-School in India.  He is Member-MSME Forum, Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Member National Advisory Board, SME Chamber of India; Member-MSME Committee of Bangalore Chamber of Commerce & Industry; and Member, Research & Policy-EGROW (Foundation for Economic Growth & Welfare). He has been an expert invitee speaker /panelist at International & National Conferences, and on TV Channels.

Initiatives during COVID pandemic[edit]

During the difficult period of COVID pandemic, Dr Sinha came forward to connect online with MSMEs for extending free online help & created a website MSMEadvisor.com (2021), aimed at providing information on the various schemes of the Government of India, and through blogs on this website creating awareness amongst MSMEs for doing Udyam Registration for availing benefits of the various schemes. On completion of 75 years of India’s Independence, he brought out MSME Blast Magazine, with useful information for the benefits of MSMEs. He is the Founder of MSME Sustainable Drive.
