Biography[edit]

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Biostatistics and Research Methods at the University of Westminster. Before my current positon I was a Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Oxford and before that Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Exeter. My research interests are in predictive biology, high-throughput data analysis, functional genomics, genome wide association studies and stochastic models of biological control. I also have experience in modelling the molecular dynamics of prion disease, statistical learning and data-mining.

My first degree was in Chemistry and Law and my PhD was in Protein Crystallography and Molecular Modelling. I have held positions as lecturer in departments of Biology, Computer Science and Statistics. Now I am actually at the 'coal face' burried under mountains of real data.

As well as my science research I am also interested in Education and in particular e-learning. I have considerable experience in developing and delivering courses in online learning and I have a firm belief that as an academic you cannot separate the teaching and research aspects of your job. Teaching should use informed best practice, and lecturers should always be aware of developments within education.
