Bambusa cacharensis is a species of Bambusa bamboo.[1]

Distribution[edit]

Bambusa cacharensis is commonly found in the state of Assam in India.[2][3]

Description[edit]

Bambusa cacharensis is perennial and caespitose with short Rhizomes. It is considered a pachymorph. Its culms erect, allowing the plant to grow up to a height of 2000–2100 cm. Its stem is supported by a diameter of 50–100 mm.It has 6 woody anthers.[4]

In a study sponsored by the US National Academy of Medicine, no seed production was attributed. This may be attributed to either protandry of the plant, or to the short height of the pistil coupled with the overlapping of lemma and palea, preventing the pistil from being exposed to the environment and reducing its opportunities of cross pollination.[5]
