This is the fourth of a series of suggested exercises prepared by User:AshLin to help new editors get on track and become productive contributors as early as possible.

#4 - Add images - add an image to it, add a gallery (under preparation)[edit]

Preliminary actions : Read the following

Step one - To add an image
  • Aim : To add an image to an article.
    • This involves a straight "cut and paste" action. This kind of formatted text is called aswikitext.
    • The equal signs which surround the caption convert the caption into a heading of a section/subsection. If the caption is surrounded by two equal signs then the heading
  • Where to add: Top of the section. Between the section heading "Transportaton" and the subsection heading "Travel to Port Blair".
  • Instructions :
    • Go to Port Blair#Transportation.
    • Press the edit link in line with heading "Transportation".
    • Copy the text given under "Material to be added" and paste it at the place indicated above. Copy the text from this page itself (and not by pressing the edit link for this section).
    • After pasting, press the "Review" button under the
    • Give an edit summary in the text box below the edit window. Suggested edit summary for this edit is - "Adding a subsection on the port at Port Blair (with material and reference)."
    • Press "Save".
