From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paraje de Fray Cristobal was a paraje, camping place, along El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro established by the first Spanish Conquistadores and was the northern end of that arid section of that road called the Jornada del Muerto, where the Camino returned to the vicinity of west bank of the Rio Grande.[1]

From 1857, its location was a small settlement in New Mexico Territory called Paraje, that lasted into the first decade of the twentieth century. [1]
