Sidney Vogel (b. 1904) was a Norwalk lawyer. He unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Norwalk, CN in 1955.
Early life[edit]
He was born in 1904. His father was Max Vogel, a charter member of the Kurlander Young Men's society of New York.[2]
He attended New Rochelle, Cornell and Yale Law School. He was admitted to the Connecticut bar in 1928 and the Federal bar in 1929. He was a city clerk in 1931 and founder of the Home and School association of Southbury Training School.[3]
He became a Mason in 1925.[4]
Campaign[edit]
Vogel won the endorsement of the Republican party, 52 to 32.[5]
His campaign centered on urban renewal.[6]
He was defeated by George Brunjes, receiving 3,242 votes. [7]
Firm[edit]
Vogel was a lawyer of the firm Vogel and Sigaway and later Vogel and Walker. In 1967, a client left him her estate. The will was later overturned, as she was found to have been incompetent at the time.[8]
He was involved in the German v. German case and his representation of the Norwalk Teachers Association.[4]
Personal life[edit]
Vogel married Esther Feinsed in 1931. They later divorced.[9] He was ordered to pay $50 (equivalent to $528 in 2023) a week in alimony.[10]
