Oniipa area[edit]

Oniipa is a small quiet peaceful beautiful town and it is one of the most famous places in the northern Namibia. It has one of the historical named ELOC publishers that were designed by colonials. It has important congregation offices. It is also the place of birth for the pioneer of poems in Namibian local languages, the late Mr. Hans Daniel Namuhuja. It is a settlement in the Oshikoto region of Namibia and the district capital of the Oniipa electoral constituency. It lies just outside of Ondangwa. It is the home town of the former Lutheran bishop and liberation leader Leonard Auala. Further settlements in this constituency are Oshigambo and Onandjokwe.

ELOC Printing Press can be found in Oniipa. It deals with designing, printing and publishes all religious books such as the hymns, bibles and so on. It prints also materials, commercial materials, brochures, posters, leaflets, text books and many other publishers. Many offices can be found in Oniipa that deals with churches‘s stuffs and many of the pastors are working and always have workshops being offered in Oniipa. It is a place that is very special when it comes to the history of churches in Namibia. During the colonial war, the printing press was having a lot of books and newspapers such as the “Omukwetu newspaper” printed and the place was bombed by those Satanists white people who wanted to own and take over our beautiful land.

A big hospital called Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital was built in that place long time ago and it is still there, now renovated even looking good. The boy’s school was built and only the men attended that school including the ELCIN bishop Nangolo Leonard Auala and others. It is a place where the missionaries from Finland came straight to preach and they brought more in details the bible script to Namibia people. I can remember some of them like Mr. Tironen, Mr. Martin Lautanen and many other people.
