U.S. Global Investors, Inc. was incorporated in Texas in 1968 under the name Military Services Investment Advisors, Inc. and three years later changed its name to Growth Research and Management Inc. In 1984, the company's name was changed again, this time to United Services Advisors, Inc. The current name was adopted in 1996.

U.S. Global was initially formed to manage a growth fund that evolved into the Gold and Precious Metals Fund (USERX), the nation’s first no-load precious metals fund. The China Region Fund (USCOX) was the first no-load fund dedicated to investing primarily in companies located in the China region, while the Eastern European Fund (EUROX) was among the first U.S. mutual funds dedicated to that region.
