Open aortic surgery ("OAS", also known as Open aortic repair, "OAR") describes a surgical technique whereby relatively large surgical incisions are used to access the aorta for purposes of repair. OAS is used to treat aortic aneurysms of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, aortic disections, aortic ulcers, and aortic ruptures.
