Vincent Angelini (born 12 September 2003) is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Brentford as a goalkeeper. He is a product of the Celtic and Watford academies.
Club career
[edit]Youth years
[edit]A goalkeeper, Angelini played for and coached at St Cadoc's during his youth career.[3] He later joined the Celtic Academy and progressed to sign a two-year professional contract at the age of 16 in August 2019.[4] Upon the expiry of the contract at the end of the 2020–21 season and after having been with Celtic for a decade,[5] Angelini moved to England to join the U23 team at Premier League club Watford.[6] Assuming a "leadership role" with the U23 team and captaining the team on occasion, Angelini trained with the first team group and was an unused substitute during three 2021–22 Premier League season matches.[7] He departed the club in January 2023.[7]
Brentford
[edit]On 30 January 2023, Angelini signed an 18-month contract with the B team at Premier League club Brentford, with the option of a further year, following a successful trial.[8] In December 2023, Angelini was an unused substitute during two Premier League matches.[9] He was released when the club declined to take up the option on his contract at the end of the 2023–24 season.[10]
Crawley Town trial.
International career
[edit]Angelini was an unused substitute for the Scotland U21 team on four occasions during the 2023-24 season.[9][11]
Personal life
[edit]Angelini is the grandson of former Celtic footballer and manager David Hay.[4] Angelini holds British and Italian citizenship.[2]
