[1][2][3][4][5][5][6][5][5][7][5][5]My name is Bruce Neuburger. I am the grandson of Benno Neuburger who is best known publicly for his act of resistance against the Nazi persecution of Jews in 1941 to 1942. During a five month period beginning on September 20, 1941 he placed 14 postcards in the mail with messages denouncing Hitler and the persecution and beginning genocide of Jews in Germany and Europe. He accurately predicted that at least 5 million Jews would be killed. He denounced Hitler as a mass murderer and tried, within the severe limitations he operated under, to put out a call to resist. In March 1942 he and his wife Ana were evicted from their home in Munich and sent to the Milbertshofen relocation camp in Munich. Milbertshofen was built on land taken from a Jewish company and used to build a concentration center for Jews who were to be deported. While at the camp, on March 24, 1942 Benno was arrested by the Gestapo and taken to the Munich Gestapo headquarters at the old Wittelsbach palace where he was subjected to violent interrogation. He was incarcerated at Stratelheim prison in Munich until July 1942. He was brought to Berlin's Moabit prison and put on trial on July 20, 1942. He was tried on the charges of treason and in a two hour trial convicted and condemned to death. His execution took place at the Plotzensee prison on September 18, 1942.
