Ernestine Ulmer, born November 7, 1892 was an American author.

She is best known for the quotation: "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first"[3][4].

Early life[edit]

Ernestine was born into a family of Russian immigrants. She was one of 14 children born to farmer father Johanes Ulmer and mother Margaretha Ridinger Ulmer[2].

Death[edit]

Ulmer died on the 29th of July 1987 in Burke, South Dakota. She is buried next to her husband at the Graceland Cemetery in Gregory County, South Dakota[5].
