From broadcaster to Correctional Manager to Author Neil MacLean has seen it all. Born to great parents he was born in Vancouver and raised in West Vancouver. The year was 1955.

Early in life Neil knew what he wanted and followed his path as a broadcaster becoming one of the voices of Cariboo Radio in Quesnel. From there he would venture to Kamloops, Vancouver and Port Alberni.

In 1988 Neil would follow a new path, one that would lead through a storied career with the Correctional Service of Canada. Upon completing basic training Neil would be posted to Kent Institution, the maximum security prison in the Upper Fraser Valley town of Agassiz. 25 years later he would work at various prisons including Matsqui, Mountain, and Mission. He worked as a Correctional Officer I and II, OC Instructor and Correctional Manager.

It was 2014 where he concluded he had enough. Retiring from the CSC Neil left with a diognosis of PTSD.

On his next journey and as part of an effective home work assignment Neil would jot down the most troubling events of his career. Over three years these notes turned to stories to a manuscript and finally a book entitled Serving LIfe 25-One Guard’s Story. Married, living in Harrison Hot Springs Neil would embark on an ambious book tour upon its release in 2017.
