Nagraj (नागराज)[edit]

Nagraj Jaaweshwor was the founder of the Khasa kingdom of Nepal.

In the middle parts of the twelfth century Nagraj Jaaweshwor came to Nepal from the Khaari province of Tibet. Here, he established the Khasa Kingdom in 1150 C.E. Jumla (Sinja) was made the capital of this kingdom. He had become the King of the Khasa state from the support of the lLa, Challa families from Kashmir. Later he was known as 'Nagraj Jaweshwor' because of ruling over the area of Jaaweshwor. In the Eight Century, few Khasis had entered Tibet from Kumaon. Nagraj from that group had become the king of Khasa kingdom while Devraj had become the king of Tibet.[1]

Expansion[edit]

From Sinja, Nagraj has started to extend the Kingdom towards the province of Karnali. He added western-Tibet and Nepal into his kingdom. He had started his expansion towards the South. After conquering Lipulekh and the region of Yaari . He had taken great support from the lLa, Challa families of Kashmir. Then, his expansion reached towards Dullu, Surkhet and Doti. He was able to successfully capture almost all areas there. After his, Chap, Chapilla, Krasichalla and Kradhichalla ruled in succession in the Empire of Sinja.
