Edwin Hotobah During (born 11 February 1999), who is known professionally as Black Boy Ice[1], is a Sierra Leonean producer, singer and songwriter. Born in the Bo city of Eastern area, Sierra Leone, Black Boy Ice is a voice in the emerging Afrobeats movement. His music is a blend of Afrobeats, afropop, R&B, afrobeat, Hip Hop, dancehall, and pop. He began recording music at the age of 11 and released his album with the kings and Queens Heavenly Voices, a group he and a couple of his cousins formed. In 2010, Black Boy Ice is currently an independent artist. He rose to the limelight after releasing "Ride"[2],produced by Mansa Karim. Matter[3](2023), his second single was also another sensation that made his name appear in the 2024 SLAAM Awards.

Life and music career
[edit]Edwin Hotobah During was born on 11 February 1999, in Bo City, Sierra Leone. He grew up in a multi-religious household as part of an extended political family. His mother was a muslim and later concerted to a Catholic Christian and his father practices Christianity. Edwin Hotobah During attended Police primary school. He grew up listening to Peter Tosh, Prince Nico Mbarga & Rocafil Jazz, Emmerson, and Bob Marley. His musical talent was spotted by his cousin Johnnie Elba cousin to Idris Elba. In 2010 became the last member to join the Kings and Queens Heavenly Voices a gospel music group that was part of Winners chapel Sierra Leone . They managed to release an album prior to breakup. Edwin Hotobah During went by the stage name Ice in school Albert Academy. He later traveled to the United State where is established his musical career with his mother financial supporting his career at the start. He cited Jadavizzle, Menace The General as some of the people who mentored and coached him when he. Edwin Hotobah During is also a music producer who has worked with most of his peers. in 2020 he produced a hit record for Sierra Leonean artist Jooel "Pak Style". He attended University of Sierra Leone (USL). He later attended Prince George's Community College

Although he is from an extended family, however, Edwin Hotobah During is a very private person and has a close relationship with his mother. He has one daughter born in 2020.
