I Fight Dragons is a chiptune/NES-rock band from Chicago.[1][2] They released their debut EP, Cool Is Just A Number on February 6, 2009, and have since experienced an explosion in the growth of their fan base, recently surpassing 4000 fans on their mailing list from everywhere around the globe.[3][4]. Their current street team which makes up of a large portion of their fans is called the I Fight Dragons Advance Guard, which is a vital part of their touring.

In May 2009, they won the annual Chicago Metromix Rock 'n' Vote contest, garnering over 50% of the votes.[5]

In September 2009, they began their US Tour with punk group Whole Wheat Bread and popular nerdcore-hiphop artist, MC Chris. In a concert review, Brandon Majors wrote that "MC Chris put on one of the best live show’s I’ve seen" but described the sound of I Fight Dragons as "a bit recycled."[6]

Discography[edit]

Extra Music[edit]

I Fight Dragons often provides new songs to their fans free of charge via their mailing list. As of June 2009, their library has more than doubled since the release of Cool Is Just A Number. These songs include covers of other bands' songs (such as a chiptune cover of John Mayer's 'Heart Of Life') and remixes of their own music, as well as original pieces and an entry in Twestival's Imogen Heap-sponsored The Song That Never Was experiment.[7]

In June of 2009 I Fight Dragons released all ten of their bonus tracks from February 6, 2009 to June 22, 2009 in an E-mail to the first 2500 subscribers of their mailing list. The Package was titled "IFD Amnesty". Then in September of 2009 they re-released the collection with five tracks added to the list making a total of fifteen songs. In August 2009 IFD bought a motor home to tour in, a contest was held to name the motor home. The winning name was "The Dragon Wagon"
