User:Bob sleadd retired police/Jazz performers at Black Hawk, 1962

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I had the special privilege to be allowed, three times in Black Hawk jazz club in 1962.(as I'm now 84), the exact dates are not available. I was an inspiring photographer at the time, and on these three times I was fortunate to take inspiring photos of, Art Farmer, Gerry Mulligan, and the Miles Davis Trio. I've done extensive research, (which is limited due to my age) about those performances, and can not find any information that confirm these artist were there, when I took photos,1962. The Black hawk closed in 1963 and Jan 1964 I joined the San Francisco Police Dept. My photography background, and experience, played a big part in my assignment to what is now called CSI. I was a sworn Police Officer, and for 25 years I did major crime scenes, evidence, and every known Police photography that was called for. Early in my assignment, I was an undercover photographer during the mid 60 riots. This is why my Jazz photography got put on the back burner, if I was more business oriented, these photos were good enough to be submitted for album covers, I never followed it up. I retired 27 years ago and now doing photography that is nothing like what I did at CSI. I live in area of Montana that has open areas, and scenes that are spectacular, I live 34 miles from glacier national Park. In my retirement years I have uncovered my 3 Jazz photos, and have hung them in several galleries in my area of Montana. To the few Jazz fans that are still around, I have had great comments on these images and have sold several framed Photographs. These are black and white, and I found that sepia tone make a wonderful presentation. I've used various types of photographic papers, and I found that my images I put on canvas have been the most acceptable. What I can not find, is information exactly when these artist where at Black hawk in 1962, when I'm sure I took the original photos. I know this is not what is called an "Article", but information about a photographer that in one period of his life, he took photographs that have stayed with him for 44 years, and feel that this part of his life is unfinished.

Respectfully submitted
