Bohola Walking Trail

This new walking trail is approx. 2km from the village of Bohola. The trail would be classed as easy, it is 5km in distance, it is accross hill and bog. There are fantastic views of Mayo from Nephin Mts to the Ox Mountains.

The Community Park

The new community park has got the go ahead following full planning permission being granted. The field was given to the community by builder Mr. Bill Durcan. The park will have two pitches and dressing rooms. There will be a walking trail from The National School to the park.

Fr. Stephen O'Mahoney

Fr. Stephen is the parish priest for the last six years. He will soon be forty years in the priesthood.

He is brother of John O'Mahoney former Mayo GAA manager

A pub crawl round Bohola and then I know I'm home Clarkes is no longer a pub, it is now a grocery shop and post office still owned and run by the Clarke family.

The local Gaelic football team is "Bohola Moy Davitts", an amalgamated team consisting of Straide, Foxford and Bohola. Among the team's achievements are its "Feile Doire 2010" All-Ireland title.[3] People

Martin Sheridan, born in Bohola in 1881, he participated in track and field during the St. Louis, Athens and London Olympiads in the early 20th century[5] William O'Dwyer, former Mayor of New York City and US Ambassador to Mexico[6] Paul O'Dwyer, brother of William, a lawyer, and politician[7] Frank Durkan, civil rights attorney and nephew of the O'Dwyer brothers[8] John Mountney, Dundalk F.C. player hails from the village[9]

Bohola had road traffic calming measures installed in the village to allow traffic to safely access the school road and the village itself

There is a fine Community Centre on the eastern side of the village dedicated to Martin Sheridan.

Christmas Market

There will be a Christmas Market in the Community Centre on Sunday 5th Dec fro 6pm to 9pm

John Mountany is a well known and very talented soccer player. He has played with Dundalk United for seven yeard. He is now with St. Pats. John has taken over the running of the family owned pub.
