From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Makerspaces (often associated with Hackerspaces, but with broader interests inspired by the Maker Movement and Make Magazine) are community centers equipped with tools that "can take the form of loosely-organized individuals sharing space and tools, for-profit companies, non-profit corporations, organizations affiliated with or hosted within schools, universities or libraries, and more" that removes barriers and costs so that people can experiment and learn.[1][2] According to the Oxford Dictionary, a makerspace is "a place in which people with shared interests, especially in computing or technology, can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge."[3]
