A)What I learned about this is that I have the power to go in and fix what needs fixing. I have the power to correct something or add on to it which is always a good thing.

B)My thoughts and feelings about editing the Dona Ana Branch paragraphs is that I feel like I am actually a part of the school now like my voice is heard. That's what I feel like I have when I corrected this paragraph. --BrantDaMerc (talk) 06:11, 16 January 2014 (UTC)—

Plagiarism Assignment 1/21/14[edit]

A) What plagiarism means to me is that its someone's work and they worked really hard for it. I look at it as shoplifting but you’re stealing someone's work that they worked for. It’s really missed up that people would do something like that. From wiki perspective plagiarism is something that is against the law. They show how you can be in trouble in very big trouble that you could even be kicked out of school for it. It also shows you how you can do it but you should use citations but know how to use citations.

Closing paragraphing is also very important it is material from another source that is being used on something else. When they do this they add inline citations. It says appropriate quotes are okay even with citations or no citations. A closing paragraph is the way how to end something using a material from another source and being able to close it without plagiarism. Always make sure you have a source when you do something like a closing paragraph. To me what copy writing means is that your taking someone else work like you didn’t even work for you just took it. If you copy right without the proper source you can be in a lot of trouble and it can hurt you and even send you to jail. Copy writing is when you use the proper source of an item and then you are able o using that source. Even if you insert a text into book it can really miss it up. So to me copy writing has to do a lot with sources and citations to make sure you do it right so you don’t get in trouble.

B) I really like how all the tabs work. It makes stuff a lot easier to do and it is very easy to do some work. Like history it can show you stuff that you have used or where you have been. The Talk tab is a great thing because it showed me that you had written back to me and that you checked my assignment edit this page was really cool to me I liked how I had the power to change stuff or fix stuff it was really fun. The watch was a great tab it kept me on a page that I had wanted to stay on and keep seeing what people wrote in the sandbox

Wikipedia articles to edit or create[edit]

What I practiced[edit]

Well what I learned doing using these tools to this page is that you can really change anything you want to change or fix anything you want to fix. I like the new section I am not going to lie at first I was a little confused and nerves because I had no clue on what I was doing and was afraid I was going to do something I am not suppose to do. When I am in the article version I really like how can see the history of this page like all the stuff that has been changed or added too. I went to Deming New Mexico page and I saw how much stuff has been changed or added to it which was a really cool site to see. I did click on the infobox which I did not know they were called that I just looked at them as pictures. The infobox was something else I never knew they had so much stuff to them or how much things where included to them very interesting. So what I learned from these tabs is that I can do so much and learn so much from these tabs that can be a benefit for me.

What I read[edit]

What I am Thinking[edit]

I am thinking that I am very close to finding a page to edit if I am not close I know that I am on the right path to finding the correct page to edit. When I do find this page I will be editing I saw something on Deming's page but I not sure I correct or could have just been seeing something.

Learning how to cite 1/28/14[edit]

What I learned reading this material today is that you can cite pretty much anything you want to cite. At first I am not going to lie it was a bit confusing and hard to understand because you have to do so much stuff when you site something. You can cite the web, the news, the books, and the journal which to me seems really great. What I did was I tried the cite web and I followed all of your steps one by one and when I finished I was very surprised that I had cited something and I did it correctly. When you come to think of it it’s really not that hard to cite it’s just very time consuming.

[1] Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park[edit]

Oklahoma City has a skate park named after Mat Hoffman - a famous BMX rider[2]. The skate park is now Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park and allows skateboards, bmx bikes, scooters, and roller blades. It was named in a National Geographic Travel guide as one of the 10 best in 2009.[3][4]

My Six ideas[edit]

  • One idea that I have in mind is adding on to Deming Wiki page. When I look at Deming's page there isn't that much information about all the great stuff in that town.
  • My second idea I would like to do is add a Pancho Villa State Park. Which is a wonderful park with such great history there.
  • My third idea is editing or adding areas around Deming, New Mexico. We have The City of Rocks State Park which is a great as well and is always fun place to be.
  • My fourth idea that I want to do and I am really liking this one Is adding on about Deming High School. I would really like to add or create a page about Deming High School and all that they have done.
  • My Fifth idea would be to just talk about Deming, New Mexico. As you can see I really love Deming and I am willing to just add or create really anything about Deming.
  • My Sixth and final idea would be about Deming's landmarks. When I say that Deming has a clock tower that is in the center of the town that as been since 1901 that's a long time ago and would be a great idea.

Most favored today[edit]

The thing that I am most likely to follow through on is create or add on to Deming, New Mexico education section. I have been living in Deming my whole life I know that city and surroundings like a book. Deming has so many great schools in that town. They have five elementary school, two middle schools, and one really big high school. So right there is so much stuff I can add on to or edit too. Also Deming does in academics, athletics and a lot more too.

Next most favored today[edit]

The second next favored thing I am bound to follow through on is adding on about Deming attractions. On Deming wiki page is just says a couple of things I mean we have really old courthouse and quit a bit if festivals that attracted a lot of people. To me there should be a lot more information on this section. Its still a part of Luna county which includes Pancho Villa State Park which is not on there. For almost 90 years Holy Family church has been having this festival every October that brings in so many people. So there is so much more attractions I could on too. --BrantDaMerc (talk) 09:45, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

My Pick 2-4-14[edit]

I have decided that I will add or edit on to Deming school district section. I will add or edit on to Deming, New Mexico wiki page. The reason I want to and to it is because I am from there and I feel like there is not much on that page. I feel like somebody from Santa Fe, New Mexico did it. So with me being from Deming, New Mexico what better person to add more stuff about that beautiful town and great landmarks also it would really be a great honor to do so. I did grow up there and went to high school there and graduated from there as well. What I want to do is add more stuff about Deming because Deming has so much history in it and so much beautiful sites around Deming and the sites.

My Talk[edit]

What I discussed and learned about the talk pages realted to my plan. I learned that Deming wiki has only a little stuff about the high school. I also saw that Deming doesn't have many people who have talked about this subject. I looked at the Talk pages of Deming, New Mexico and I came to relize that Deming Doesn't really have much about Like the stuff that there is to do around Deming. Such as Pancho Villa State Park or City of Rocks State Park. So what I learned is that I can edit or add on to Deming Wiki.

My Three specific improvements[edit]

Improvement1[edit]

Well to start off I would say try not to make the syllabus or instructions confusing. When I would read the instructions I was reading so much about something and it seemed to go off task or talk about something else and I would get very confused. So just an improvement make it a little less confusing.

Improvement2[edit]

One improvement that could be needed is to have only one assignment a week. A lot of students who are taking this class have work and other classes to attend to and do. Sometimes I wouldn't even know what day it is I just knew that assignment where due at the beginning of the week and the end of the week and would get very confused on it. So one assignment a week would be great and very helpful.

Improvement3[edit]

I know an improvement that could be handy is have the assignments weighted all the equally. I remember in the beginning of this class all the assignment were weighted 2 then 3 then 5 then 2 again then 10 and then 5 and then 15 all of them seemed to be odd but then again it was for how important the assignments were.
