The History[edit]

In 2010, Cumnor House School, consisting of the Boys’ School, Kindergarten and Pre-school, opened Cumnor House Girls’ School within the Webb Estate, Purley. Initially known as The Downs, the school was founded by Fred Chappell in 1910. In September 1920, Edgar Dodd took over the school and made it a significant feature of the Webb Estate, where it has remained for the last 100 years. In September 2010, Cumnor House School became part of the Cognita Schools Group.[3] [4]
