Dr. Kpongo once said his speech “The power of a praying Church” that, the family is the beginning of the church. Each of us comes from a family and all of us form the church. If there is enough love in the family, then there should be enough love here. Children moral standards are taught by parents and teachers. Fortunately, the first contact for moral learning is the family. Childhood lays an important foundation that can last for a life time. The moral crisis of the youth is in two folds; the hardened heart of the youth and the family crisis. Dear parents, it is true we learn immorality from the society, but it is much difficult for society to unsocialized the quality moral standard we develop at childhood. If we learn theory in school and practice in the industry, what should we do when you teach us what to practice? We watch movies with you, you don’t even care about the content. Just a little misunderstanding, daddy insults mummy, Mummy wants to give him some but this time in a hypocritically garnished way. The little boy did something, eeheeeen(ɛ), look at the face like him. Mummy tells me to do it this way. It is wrong to do it this way, there comes the masculine voice! do it that way, I said do it that way! What should we learn? Yes, indeed you love us. We appreciate your love but we are confused, your love rather meets our wants not our needs. We don’t know what we need any more. Dear parents you gave us everything we ask for but is everything really good for us? Just like Jesus ask Peter, we ask you today, do you love us? Teach us to save, don’t encourage us to spend, do you love us? teach us perseverance, don’t give us comfort, do you love us? Feed us with the lamb of God not yoghurt and Pizza. It is evident that, there is so much cold in the spiritual life of the youth today. We are sometimes called Anti-Catholics. It is true, the Youngsters are living the church in search of empowerment, Holy Spirit etc. Does it mean the Holy Spirit is not in the Church? Is there not enough power in the church? Teach us not to be just practicing Catholics, but also to be certified catholic in which living the church will be a trail to us. The Crisis in our faith is as a result of the crisis in the home. At home we went to church because, if we don’t go we will not eat, because the door will be locked, because everyone else is going, Daddy cannot even pray with us. It is bed time Daddy has still not returned from work. Then Mummy Shouts, hey go to bed it is late, so you can wake up early tomorrow for school. Really! You have given us food, you’ve given us shelter, you’ve given quality education but you’ve not given us Jesus. Dear Rev. Frs. The crisis of the home is affecting the church. We cry humbly to you today dear parents, to give us something new. We don’t find fulfillment in your old song of success, be a Doctor, be an Engineer, be a Professor, hmm, one thing you forget to add, please give us Jesus. He wasn’t a professor but has the highest publication in the world. Preach salvation to us, tell us why we should go to church, don’t just send us to church. Give us everlasting life. May be we should remind you of your promise during our infant baptism? please fulfill your promise. We love you dearly Mama We love you dearly Papa Our prayer to God is, God should bless and keep you.
