2009, Trabzon, Turkey a 39-year-old Turkish woman cut off the penis off her 28-year-old lover and threw it on the roof of a neighbouring building. Surgeons worked for 11 hours to re-attach the penis in a successful operation and said full sexual function should return within six months. She claimed she did it because he "had broken his promise to marry her and forced her into prostitution and beat her"

In May, 2009, Russia, a woman Kira V. attached firecrackers to her boyfriend Alik D's penis after he turned down her offer of marriage, saying he would rather return to his ex wife and son. Following a farewell dinner, Alik passed out from drinking excessively and Kira blew up his penis. He was rushed to intensive care.
