[edit]When thinking about the adminship process, what are your thoughts and opinions about the following areas:
- Candidate selection (inviting someone to stand as a candidate)
- Anyone who has shown an interest in improving the encyclopedia, and the skills to do the same, is a valid canidate, without any specific edit count requirements.
- Administrator coaching (either formally or informally)
- None should be required.
- Nomination, co-nomination and self-nomination (introducing the candidate)
- All OK.
- Advertising and canvassing
- Should be kept to a minimum.
- Debate (Presenting questions to the candidate)
- Always good.
- Election (including providing reasons for support/oppose)
- Reasons given must be RELATED TO BEING AN ADMINISTRATOR. "idontlikeit" can't stand for RFA votes.
- Withdrawal (the candidate withdrawing from the process)
- Don't see any issues with how this is now.
- Declaration (the bureaucrat closing the application. Also includes WP:NOTNOW closes)
- Must make sure votes are relevant to the topic at hand. Early closes should only be used in case of joke nominations or other obvious nonsense.
- Training (use of New Admin School, other post-election training)
- Should not be required, but encouraged.
- Recall (the Administrators Open to Recall process)
- All administrators should be subject to recall if they do not appear to be acting in accordance with consensus - and only non-administrators should be allowed to vote in this recall, to prevent cronyism.
When thinking about adminship in general, what are your thoughts and opinions about the following areas:
- How do you view the role of an administrator?
- No big deal - should almost be an automatic advancement for competent ediots.
- What attributes do you feel an administrator should possess?
- Ability to properly reflect consensus in any decisions they make, without applying personal biases, selectively ignoring votes, etc. Proper skills for using admin tools, merges, etc.
Finally, when thinking about Requests for Adminship:
- Have you ever voted in a request for Adminship? If so what was your experience?
- Several times. Too many cronies.
- Have you ever stood as a candidate under the Request for Adminship process? If so what was your experience?
- Yes. Distinctly negative. Speculations about my sexual preferences do not have a bearing on my ability to reflect consensus or perform administrator-only actions.
- Do you have any further thoughts or opinions on the Request for Adminship process?
- Not nearly enough people are allowed to become administrators under the current processes.
