From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm a 47-year-old accountant from the South of England, interested in a widish range of topics, but particularly history, folklore & literature (and, in particular, the areas where these three meet). I've been contributing to Wikipedia since 2008. The British 'Dark Age' (ie post-Roman, Pre-Norman British history) is an area that particularly interests me, as does the history of Sussex and, in particular, the area around my home town of Hastings. I am an interested amateur rather than an expert in these fields, but have attempted to read widely enough to make half-sensible contributions to Wikipedia topics in these areas. I am always happy for my opinion to be over-ruled by those with more formal training or greater knowledge.

I'm also a keen amateur actor & singer, and sing bass with a four-part-harmony group based in the South-East.

"Butchers Cross" is the name of a tiny hamlet in East Sussex where some of my maternal ancestors originated; you might, if you are very lucky, just about find it on a particularly detailed map, situated between Five Ashes & Mayfield. I chose this user name simply because all my prior choices for a user name had already been taken!

Please feel free to talk or to argue with me.
