I make a few edits every now and then on Wikipedia. I have created a few new pages, too, including Salvatore Lanzetti and Pbow. I have an MSIS from the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin.

How to add a new image to a Wikipedia page about a city or town

I notice that many of the auto-generated pages on Wikipedia for US towns and cities don't have images. Here's a set of steps for adding images to those pages.

• Find a photo of the town or city on Flickr by searching for Public Domain or Creative Commons images.
  • Note that many CC licenses are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia, including all NonCommercial licenses. See more at Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Deprecated#Non-free Creative Commons licenses.
• Upload that photo on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard. Make sure it has a good file name, as described on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Uploading_images#Filenames. Include a summary like "From https://www.flickr.com/photos/royharryman/49981756048/, Roy Harryman, Public domain."
• Add a tag for the appropriate license.
• The image exists on Wikipedia! Now it is time to add it to the relevant Wikipedia page. Open the relevant Wikipedia page.
• If you want to add the image to the infobox, three lines will do it. Something like this:

• The order of items in the infobox is fixed. If you use image_skyline, it will always show up near the top of the infobox.
• Note that the names of the parameters above apply in the US. In other countries (for example, the UK, where the image parameter is static_image_name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_UK_place), they are different.
