Fabio Marra is a writer, director and comedian born in Naples on June 25, 1984 .

Biography

Fabio Marra debuted at the Bellini Theater in Naples .

He quickly took an interest in writing so he wrote and directed a few short plays that got played in different theatres of the city. In 2005 he left his home country and moved to Paris to train at the International School Jacques Lecoq

His journes initiated with the Carrozzone[1] company wich he founded in 2006 and which produces the plays he writes, directs and plays in. His play are listed in the BnF catalogue [2].

Writing and theater creation

In 2008, he wrote and directed his first play in France, Teresina[3], which was created at the Festival d'Avignon and was produced then in 2013 at the Théâtre de Poche Montparnasse[4]. The show went on a few tours between 2009 and 2017[5]. He then wrote Mon serviteur at the Théâtre de l'Ocrtoi de Versailles[6] in 2009.


In 2010, he created La Naive [7] . The play was presented in Paris during the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons [8], at the Avignon Festival in 2010 and 2011 and, with the support of ADAMI, the play was performed at the Théâtre de Poche Montparnasse in 2013 [9] .

In 2012 he wrote and directed Rappelle-toi[10]. With the support of the SFR foundation for the art, the play was created at the Festival d'Avignon Off 2012[11] and played at the 2013 edition[12]. Still in 2012 Marra was offered a residence at the Théâtre Le Lucernaire de Paris[13]. The city of Versailles decided to coproduce his next play. He wrote and directed Dans les chaussures d’un autre[14], which talks about identity.[15]


The play was performed at the Théâtre Le Lucernaire de Paris during the 2012/13 season[16] and at La Luna (théâtre)as part of the 2014 Festival d'Avignon Off[17]. In 2014 he wrote two plays : Allegro ma non troppo which he directs where music and talking mix up[18]. The play was created at the Scène du Canal with the music of the Guappecarto. The same year he co-wrote Prêt-à-partir [19] with Fabio Gorgolini. The play was created by the Teatro Picaro Company at the Théâtre Buffon.

In 2015, he wrote and directed Ensemble[20], with Catherine Arditi playing the main part. The play unfolds around a theme as universal as it is unknown: normality. Ensemble was created at the Festival d’Avignon 2015[21] at the Théâtre La Luna[22], with the support of the Théâtre le Moulin des Muses of Breuillet and the city of Bièvres[23]. Ensemble was presented at the Théâtre du Petit Montparnasse[24] begining in January 2017. The play was nominated at thePrix Molières[25] in two categories. Fabio Marra was nominated for male revelation and Catherine Arditi won the best actress of the private theatre in 2017.

Ensemble was translated and produced in a few contries :

United Kingdom, Czech Republic, South Korea, Germany, Greece, Luxemburg, Poland, Panama, Argentina, Finland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Turkey.

In Spain, on August 6, 2018, the Première of the play, entitled Juntos took place at the Teatro Principal de Vitoria Gasteiz, starring Kiti Mánver, Melani Olivares, Gorka Otxoa and Inés Sánchez, under Juan Carlos Rubio [] directing. The play toured during the 2018/2019 season and was presented at the Teatro Amaya de Madrid during the 2019/2020 season.

The play was published by the Ediciones Antigona de Madrid. It received 4 nominations at the Spanish national Grand Prix for Performing Arts 2019 ("Premios Max de las artes escenicas"): Best Show, Best direction, Best Actress and Best Actor.

A film adaptation of the play by Nostress production film takes place in Prague. Premiere Cinema in September 2022 Spolu []</link> . Also in September 2022, the premiere of the theatrical adaptation of Ensemble took place at the Théâtre du Centaure in Luxembourg, directed by Marja-Leena Junker []</link> .

In 2016, he wrote À tes mots, a play for young audiences, created by the company Mélodrames, directed by Gustavo de Araujo, at the Théâtre Le Funambule in Montmartre .

In 2020 he wrote Un pas après l'autre . He directed the play at the Espace Michel Simon in Noisy-le-Grand. The play was performed at the Théâtre La Scala Provence as part of the 2022 Avignon Festival

In 2023 he wrote and directed La couleur des sentiments with Dominique Pinon, Catherine Arditi, Sonia Palau, Floriane Vincent, Aurélien Chaussade and Fabio Marra. The creation took place at the Théâtre des Halles in Avignon. In co-production with La Comédie de Picardie in Amiens.

He is an associated artist at the Federation of Social Centers of Seine-Saint-Denis, who accompanied him on an adventure that culminated in 2012 with the staging of the Festival Transit 2013 and 2014[26]. He is also a Member of the SACD, the National Union of Directors and of the Autores y Autoras de Teatro company in Spain.
