I

[edit]

I am a freshman working on Wikipedia for college credit at Georgia Southern University. I have lived in Georgia for my entire life and do not see this changing for the foreseeable future. I am a college student so the foreseeable bit doesn't happen to be very long since I do not know what I'm going to do with my major, (physics) and even the major itself is subject to change.

I do like it here as I hate the cold, oh and living on campus is nice too.

I am currently trying to keep HOPE and adjust to college life as well as the new location that comes with it.

I have spent about nine years of my life active in some type of sport, martial arts is the only one worth mentioning. I was in it for five years.

I play PC games as a hobby, mostly TF2, this will be talked about later.

Wikipedia

[edit]

I like how open Wikipedia is because it gives common people the ability to share their input, giving the articles more of a practical feel and, to an extent, omitting information that is technically correct but not advantageous for general use. This supposedly comes at a noticeable cost of accuracy but I've neither looked for nor stumbled across any numbers supporting this (How does one put a calculable value on inaccuracy?) and common sense dictates that the inaccuracies occur mostly in obscure articles.

That said all information should be questioned as a general rule, especially if it seems off or it needs to be accurate. Check the sources and in some extreme cases look, at the original research of those sources. If this is done properly Wikipedia can in effect be just as y2k or more CERN black holes reliable than your average TV news source.

First sentence:

"Joshua Abraham Norton, the self-proclaimed Imperial Majesty Emperor Norton I, was a celebrated citizen of San Francisco, California, who in 1859 proclaimed himself "Emperor of these United States" and subsequently "Protector of Mexico"."

Summary of first few paragraphs:

Ian Brackenbury Channell taught at the University of New South Wales in Sidney until the student protests in 1967. During this time he created a direct action reform movement named Alf, or Action for Love and Freedom. The head of his department decided he was crazy and fired him without consultation for not making enough progress in his thesis in the sociology of art. In 1969 he was appointed to be the official university wizard so he could stay on campus and continue his social experiments.

Contributions to Wikipedia Harvey J. Graff page

[edit]

I have started the Harvey J. Graff page. Feel free to add on to it, find more sources, or improve what has already been written. Admittedly I am not the best writer and will not be bothered by rewording things so long as it does not make the statement less accurate.

Also I previously posted that I would be working on it occasionally for the next few months. That time period has ended (with the class), while I may check on it from time to time I don’t see myself making any more major changes to it.

English

[edit]

I speak American English, but don't expect much their either.

Technology and the Internet

[edit]

Having played PC games since elementary school, it may not be inaccurate to say I'm biased on this subject. This might also say I'm above average in experience in some aspects (no, I cannot code). Either way I have no qualms with technology or the expansion of its use and, in my opinion, the extra time it takes a postal-worker to mail a letter adds no sentimental value to the message this medium is used to convey.

Gaming

[edit]

This section will mostly talk about an FPS called TF2. It has been added so people don't think I have no soul. If you need to click on the links, reading any further would probably be a waste of time. aside from fulfilling the aforementioned purpose, kinda

TF2 has 9 classes 7 of which I'm decent at, leaving medic and spy. I'm a good medic and a better spy. I use the standard load-out for spy except the watch, for it I use all 3 depending on the circumstance.

Favorite stock maps

  • Control Point: fastlane hard choice
  • Payload: badwater
  • King of the Hill: viaduct
  • Capture the Flag: turbine the competition being...?
  • Arena: no granary if pressed

Favorite class: spy

Least favorite class: heavy (I CANNOT track)

I've played them (Gun Runners in ugc highlander) -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2U1gjl4kuA We failed miserably

In case an hour is too much here is another video, Gun Runners is not in this one and it's 6v6 not highlander http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-1V7v7WzCE
