LHD vessels are built with a full flight deck similar in appearance to an aircraft carrier to operate utility and attack helicopters. The landing helicopter dock carries roughly 1100 military personnel, 100 armored vehicles, and multiple types of helicopters and aircrafts.[1] The aircrafts carried by LHD's include, the joint strike fighter F-35B and MV-22 Osprey.[2] The helicopters carried include UH-1Y Huey, the AH-1Z Super Cobra helicopters, and the MH-60S Sea Hawk.
