Detention Blues is a jazz song written by Paul Clark. The song is not a general pop song, however. It is a short tune used by private school bands and camps. The song is of the swing blues style, and is written by the same artist who wrote three other similar tunes, Low Rider, Quiet Little Town and Funky G. The song is a beginners jazz tune and is heard at many school jazz band concerts.
