 Retail deliveries began in the U.S. and Japan, and fleet customers in Portugal in December 2010.[13][14][15] As of February 2013, the Leaf is also available in Australia, Canada, 17 European countries and other international markets.[16]

Beginning in June 2013 the 2013 model built in the UK will have a battery leasing option that varies from £70 (US$108) to £129 (US$198) per month depending on the miles driven per year and length of the lease. This option reduces the purchase price by £5,000 (US$7,680) compared with buying the car with the battery included.[17] A similar option will be available in most European countries.[18]

Since December 2010 over 71,000 units have been sold worldwide through July 2013, making it the world's best-selling highway-capable electric car ever.[19][20] Global sales are led by the United States with 31,215 units sold through July 2013,[21][22][23] Japan with 28,164 units sold through July 2013,[24][25][26][27] and Europe with more than 12,000 units delivered.[19] European sales are led by Norway with 4,922 new units sold through July 2013.[8][28][29][30][31][32][33]

 Volt deliveries in the U.S. began in December 2010[38] and in September 2011 in Canada.[39] European customer deliveries of the Opel Ampera began in February 2012.[40]

As of July 2013, more than 52,500 units of the Volt/Ampera family have been sold worldwide, including over 6,000 Opel/Vauxhall Amperas delivered in Europe. Sales through July 2013 are led by the United States with 43,101 Volts delivered,[21][22][23] followed by the Netherlands with 3,412 Amperas and 561 Volts,[41][42] Canada with 2,013 Volts,[43] and Germany with 1,310 Amperas and 48 Volts registered.[44][45][46]
